Crumbled Walls

Forgotten down old twisting roads
Roads filled with ruts- overgrown by decay from the past
If found and followed- you’ll find abandoned, rotting buildings
Long forgotten

Was it by mere mishap
That they found the old road
That they found themselves traveling a different path

They could not be sure
But maybe this was the road pursued by few
The mystery drew them on
The legend was quite a lure

The light from the sun dimmed
struggling to touch bent shoulders
Shudders wracked their frames
The day seemed so much colder

Looking down to catch a glimpse of the road
They noticed the stones
Pure white-untouched by time
Stepping over fallen logs
Bending low to avoid hanging limbs
They followed those stones

Soon a small brick structure
Branches obscuring its lines
Had they found it
The building of mystery long secluded by natures wrap
Legend told
It had been a place of great gatherings-- a place of power

They needed answers
For power lost
The answer that would unite hands bound by the cross
Those once again whose feet were set on that path
Then they would leave behind the distrust and stand as one

For now
Doors chained shut
Walls tattered in ruin
No power fed the lights draped with cobwebs and vines
And the pulpit once filled with fire
Now leaned heavily to the left as rot destroyed the very foundation
Teetering so close to the edge was the WORD left behind

Feeling that it was wrong to leave it that way
Hands weary with age reached out and lifted the weighty book
Gently grasping it with one arm
A hand reached out to clear time
So that the words in red could be read

5:13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
5:14 You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.
5:15 Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
5:16 Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

I have been burdened for this church for a long time.
I am one of the church.
He wants to send the winds of change.
He wants to remove the ruin that has ruled the body.
The church will rise again.
Will we be part of that remnant?
Arise oh sleeping giant!
Feel the heat of His Spirit.
Let it burn away the decay.
Let us once again shine for Him!

For me, it's like wanting to take the Word and before I read it, blow off and away all the preconceived ideas, doctrines and traditions of men that have obstructed the Word to my heart. Open it anew by the leading and revelation of the Holy Spirit instead.
