Be A Blessing This Christmas-Let Your Light Shine

"Thank You"
to all of you, who not only reached out in His name for our project--- but who also took the time to link with Mary of Mary's Writing Nook and I. Thank you for allowing us to share in your story for our Be A Blessing this Christmas Let Your Light Shine.
I have met some new women and men. Pretty cool!
I have enjoyed reading about your ideas and I look forward to reading your post about your adventures in giving.
I will leave this post up through the weekend so that you will have a little extra time to get your post up or you can wait till Monday the 10th.
If you do not know how to use Mr Linky I would be glad to help. If you know how to copy and paste-you can do it.

We have been able to do a few things this season.
A man at our church loves to work with wood and this year came up with the idea to make cutting boards to sell for Christmas. The cool thing is that when you purchase one of the cutting boards he takes the money and buys Bibles for the Navajo Indians. How great is that?
It is in their language and they are not cheap. So this year we bought 4 boards and we will let the recipients know what was given by the purchase of their gift. Maybe they can remember to pray for the person who got the Bible each time they use their board. Sorry, I don't have a picture of these-they are already under the tree.

Next- we did the shoe boxes with Franklin Graham. We did two --both for girls Julia's age.
I pray that the little girls who got them are blessed and feel loved.Next, I wanted the staff at the nursing home where Granny is to know how much we appreciate their hard work. I baked mini loaves of pumpkin bread and wrapped them up.When I walked up to the nurses desk and asked how many people were on staff that day-- they were not very happy. Honestly, I could not understand the problem. And then.....I had a duh moment. I quickly said I was sorry and that I was not there to complain, but to wish them a Merry Christmas and thank them for their hard work. I wish you could have seen their faces. I thought one of them was going to cry. They said people just never did that. I was glad that they were so touched. Paw Paw was too. He was surprised that I was doing something for them.
I think it was good for him to see that I cared.
One last thing. If you are still looking for something to do I would love to encourage you to check out this post. You will literally touch someone on the other side of the world. And this idea is being sponsored by a teenage boy. See we did have some guys involved.
Here is Mr LinkyWell, that is it for now. I am looking forward to hearing your stories and hopefully seeing a few adventure pictures.

Wow! That was an amazing story about the nurses. I never thought about that before. I know if I phone and ask to speak to a manager to compliment one of their employees, they are always shocked. It ought not to be that way, huh?

That is so cool about selling the wood and buying bibles! I like that a lot.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by my blog and teach/minister to others. I really appreciate that. I hope you have a beautiful weekend.

I'm back off to finish my housework. ((Hugs))

That's neat. We're sponsoring an elderly assisted living complex this year and making 150 shoeboxes for the residents. It would be cool to make something for the nurses, too. Hadn't thought about them.

One cool gift that I got from a hardware store is a 12"X12" marble or grantite tile. Put some non-skid stuff on the back and it makes an excellent place to roll out dough because it stays cool and your dough won't stick. I'm giving some to my in-laws with cheese balls, crackers and a fancy spreading knife. All together the gift cost's $5 and it's neat. I want one myself.

Sharon,

Your post is awesome. I worked in a nursing home and many times when people came to the desk, it was to complain. I'm sure the staff were very surprised.

All that you've done to let your light shine is wonderful. I will try to get my post up tomorrow. I am a bit bogged down here tonight. I have 56 Christmas cards to write for hubby to give his clients. :-)

Thank you for partnering with me this year to make a difference in the world.

Thanks also for your lovely comments, love and support on tonight's post.

Blessings,
Mary

What a wonderful thing you are doing...I love how you are sharing this also...

we are working on many projects now that so touch my heart... but what I do is listen to the voice of Papa.. and see if this is His plan.. because this time of year is really overwhelming..

but one that stands out is my good friend that just lost her daughter, we are sending her and her other daughter away at christmas... so they can spend Christmas away from the home... it's going to be very hard this year... I can't imagine.. I'm losing my dad and i cry all the time, I cannot imagine a child...

Blessings and love to you Sharon

I love the fact that you take the time to care about other people like all those hard working nurses and it almost made me cry that they were so grateful - good for you, Sharon - good for you. And, thanks for coming over and leaving the nice Birthday wish for my Dad. Have a good Sunday and I'll see you soon. Kellan

Hi Sharon:-) You and Mary are to be congratulated on coming up with such a wonderful idea...that's what Christmas is all about, isn't it, making someone happy and sharing with the less fortunate! I had two different events to post today so I hope you don't mind that I did them both on the same post. I love what you did for your part in helping others:-) Merry Christmas! xox

I did a post on our Samaritan's Purse shoeboxes back in November, shortly before you started this "Be a Blessing" thing. So I just gave the URL for that post so I could still join in!!

Thanks for doing this -- you have a wonderful heart for Jesus!
