A good and faithful servant

I was talking to a friend the other day about loving her husband.
Let's face it--sometimes we don't feel like it.
We don't feel like reaching out in love--maybe because we don't feel lovely.
And honestly, we even might think, why bother--why does it even matter?
There is a verse that pops to my mind--Whatever you do in word or deed, do it as unto the Lord. Love my husband like I was loving the Lord?
That is a strange thought. But if it is something I have been told to do--then I must be obedient. Why?
One day when I get to heaven God is going to either say, well done my good and faithful servant or I will face disapproval for not handling what I was given the way Jesus would have.
How can I live up to Jesus?
I can't.
But God expects me to.
So is all a loss?
Do I just give up and forget about it all?
In the famous words of Paul----GOD FORBID!
So how do we go about this whole living up to God's standards?
There is a good piece of news in the 15 chapter of John.
It says we don't have to worry about producing LOVE--the Holy Spirit will do it for us.
So, I can get to heaven and be rewarded for being a good and faithful servant and, for the most part, it will have nothing to do with me at all.
When I submit to the leadership of the Lord--He will love my husband through me.
When I don't feel loving, I can pretty much guarantee that I am not submitting to the Lord.
I, by my rebellion or the anger in my heart, am cutting myself off from Him.
You and I can attest to this---if you have been loved and feel loved, you will be more willing to give love. Too many times I wait for my love tank to be filled by people here on this earth--
and then I am sunk!
Going to God and letting Him fill my tank--will be the only way to make it through this life like Jesus.
Remember in the Bible when Jesus would go away from everyone in the early morning hours to spend time with God? He was getting filled up.
Don't you think all those people wanting things from him drained His human body? YES!
Can we also get drained? YES!
God is a rewarder of those who please Him.
Who thought we could be rewarded just loving our husbands,
or anyone else for that matter.
Let's be known as lovers.
People, who because they had been LOVED FULLY AND COMPLETELY BY GOD--
loved others passionately.

Fill my cup Lord
I lift it up Lord
Come a quench this thirsting of my soul
Bread of Heaven fill me till I want no more
Here's my cup fill it up and make me whole.

Thanks for listening to the ramblings of my heart today.
Have a love filled, overspilling day today!

Thank you for the reminder to love today. Especially someone who is soooooooooo hard to love. I'm believing God no matter how hard it is to love them, He will love them through me!

PS I arrived.

Thanks for this sweet reminder! Sometimes it is so hard to love him the way God desires me to especially with all we are going through right now!!

Great reminder! Having an 8 month old baby, I know I am neglecting my husband. I also know that one day (all too soon) kids grow up and leave, and it's just going to be me and my hubby! I really need to pray about this particular issue that God will help me to love my husband the way I should.

Oh man, that was right on the mark! I know this to be so true. Only God can fill my "tank" consistently and always, then I can show my husband my sweet side instead of my insecure, needy side that occasionally pops up! (usually when I haven't gone to God)

Great ponderings today -- and so true!

Thanks for your pick-me-up comment -- I needed it! I slaps are well taken LOL. I have been discouraged today, but that hasn't led me to overeat. I've taken my walk, written in my journal and am keeping on the right paths. I hope & pray that I'll see some good results on the scale soon.
You're a sweetheart and a good friend! Thanks again. D

Easy to love my man! But always good to remember WHY.
I thought of the other song about filling my cup. CeCe Wimans sings, "Fill my cup Lord, High lifted up Lord, Help quench this thirsting in my soul, Breath of Heaven Fill me 'til I want no more, Fill my Cup, Fill it Up, with you." Mmm So good!
