A Fresh Drink

The Message--------------Ephesians chapter 1

I was goofing off and decided to see what some of my favorite scriptures would look like in a different version of the Bible. This is from the message and it is told I think more in story format. I usually use NIV some I know are die hard KJV. I don't have a problem with any version as long as they don't change the message. Sometimes when I study I like to hear a verse in a different version because something else pops out. www.Biblegateway.com
The previous web site is a great one to go to to see a verse in almost every version or language.

11-12It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.

13-14It's in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This signet from God is the first installment on what's coming, a reminder that we'll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life.

Now the next passage will be the same just in NIV

11In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory.
Pretty neat! I was reading in Proverbs 8 today, if you check it out in the message I am sure you will love it too.

I have to agree with you -- I like to read passages in different translations. I really started liking ESV. Although it is very close to the NIV, I like its poetry...

Just wanted to welcome you to the CWO Blog Ring :)

Blessings on your weekend and always...

Thank you for your comment. It is so awesome to be able to talk to someone in a different part of the world. I am rather new to this blogging process, I really look forward to getting to know some different people.

Hi Sharon, I have a parallel bible which has four different translations side by side (mine is Christian Book Distributor's own - much cheaper!). It has the KJV, NKJV, NIV and NLT. I really like to look at all of the translations - it's very helpful for really getting the gist of what is being said. I'm not usually one who would read the KJV but it does offer a great perspective when you look from it to all four translations. D
