What I am doing this fall

Being new to the area I was really hoping to find a women's Bible study
in the area...but this did not happen. Now I know why.
Several years ago I did this study....half heartedly.
For those of you unfamiliar with this study here is a little about it.

If you want to stop dieting forever, learn to eat in the way that God planned for your body, and lose your extra weight permanently, this is the perfect class for you! You will find self-control that you never thought you could have as you enjoy all the wonderful and God-given foods you have been denying yourself for so long. And the best thing is, you will no longer feel controlled by the food or have the desire to binge at night when no one is looking! Exodus Out of Egypt will teach you how to plug back into your God-given physical signals, and you will find incredible freedom in your eating as you learn to follow God’s perfect will in regard to food..

For years I have battled with my weight.
A little over a year ago I went on a particular diet and lost 40 pounds. I was so excited that I had finally done it! And then life got a little tough.....and I went back to food for comfort.
The fat was all to willing to come back. :(
I knew that I had a problem with my heart. The food did not need to learn to behave....I did. Anytime you go to something or someone besides God for love and comfort.....He is not going to let you be a happy camper. And each time I look in the mirror.....I see the evidence of my wandering heart. It makes me sad. And yes, a little mad.

In looking for a study to do I decided to go to the Weigh Down site. Actually I was looking to see if a church in the area might be doing this study. I was excited to see that I would not need to look for a class because now they were offering it on line.
My class started the day I checked in......what sweet timing on God's part.
Last night was the first real class. There were people from all over the United States. We watch a video and then the chat room is open for questions. There are two women who have been through the course and maintained for years that are the moderators.

So if you don't mind from time to time I will share some of the things that I am learning and how much I am loosing. This will help hold me accountable before God and man.
I pray my heart is ready for this.

If you want to find out more about this study you can click on the picture and it will take you to the home page for Weigh Down.
There!
Now it is out there and the true journey must begin.

Sharon,

Congratulations on the class. I think many of us reach to food for comfort. It seems to be a part of humanity, so don't beat yourself up about it. Remember, there is a time for everything. I pray this is your time.

Love and blessings,
Mary

First off let me say Sharon, you are beautiful! This theme of beautiful is coming up a lot this week - Mel of Mel's world is doing an online study on it, another friend posted on another site on this topic and again last night I read this once more.

I tried the Weigh Down programme 10 years ago, but it didn't work for me - I think I wasn't in the right 'place' then you know.

Yeah, losing the weight is one story, maintaining the loss and holding it is another, those triggers that make us overeat, tiredness, disappointment, happy, too busy, bored, hurt...many triggers.

Do check out Demara's story, she is a real inspiration too.

I pray that God guides you, strengthens you and that this is a journey of joy with Him too!

I tried WDW last year--halfheartedly. I guess I struggled with the idea of not eating until I was hungry--really hungry and then eating whatever I wanted. Being that before I was chubby, I was anorexic, this program was a little scary for me. I am all behind you workin' this program; just make sure what you eat is healthy. Like take a good whole food vitamin so your body gets the stuff it still needs when you aren't eating a lot. I don't know about you, but I want to be thin AND healthy! I should pull out the tapes and do it with you! :)
Curious--Is this the program you did before and lost 40lbs on?

I know when I participated with WD, there were some doctrinal "issues" that many churches closed their doors to it all. Have you looked at weightlossjoy.com and in particular, the 100 Days of Weight Loss the 100 Days' Challenge (workbook). You can download the journal for free from the website. I haven't lost LOTS but I've definitely been losing AND more importantly, changing my lifestyle as a result of working through this challenge. I am enjoying it so much, I'm going to do it again.

I too have done this and I have to say it did not do anything for me at the time which may have not been the right time it was about 8 years ago I have grown.
I will need to take another look too.

I'm also supporting you. Your post led me to check out the website. I tried this, not at all wholeheartedly, once before with no effects. Duh -- wonder why??

One thing I've learned is that nothing works until we're ready to do it right!

Do it, Girl!

I also have heard about some serious doctrinal issues with the WD founder. I recommend The Lord's Table http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com/lords_table/ and Weight Loss Joy (100 Days) that Edge mentioned above. Both are absolutely GREAT!

There are many, many people who aren't successful that this "first time" around. So don't feel like a failure. A failure is someone who doesn't even try. Don't forget that the HS is on your side and is there for you during temptations. I often forget that and try to rely on my own willpower. ((( hugs ))) Wish we could go on some power walks together and chat for a while! Oh and I'd love to fish w/ you too!! :) We'd probably laugh so much we'd scare the fish away... D

I love what you said here: "And each time I look in the mirror.....I see the evidence of my wandering heart." THAT WAS so true...i still see fat when i look in the mirror, after losing 55 pounds, you know...although i really do like seeing what's in the mirror now!
