Thinking of home

As most of ya'll know I am from just outside New Orleans, Louisiana.
And yes, we rode through Katrina and Rita and then lived through what they left behind.

As I look at the weather forecasts I am of course growing concerned
for the family and friends we left behind. I feel that old familiar feeling rising in my stomach.
I know that most of you have seen the aftermath of the storms three years ago..what I don't know is if you really know the emotional toil that these storms took
on those who lived in the area.
Businesses that are really just now getting back into full swing
are now facing the possibility of that horror all over again.
My parents, son and sister and her family are still there....and my heart goes out to them...as well as my prayers.
I wish I was there to help.
I found myself telling God....like He didn't already know.....that I didn't know if my parents could handle another storm. After all their business is now back up and doing great....after basically having to rebuild it from scratch.
I know He knows my heart.....but dear God- NO! please.

I would just ask that you would please pray about this storm.
Selfishly I would love you to just pray it dissolves. Poof! and it is gone.
But, most of all I ask that you would pray for their safety and strength of mind and soul.

Thanks!
Above all....in all things I give thanks....because I know He is the handler of the storm
they ALL have to answer to Him.

Thanks for sharing your heart. I have not been through physical storms, but I have been through circumstantial storms. I felt the same way that you described in your post.

I know what rebuilding feels like and the devastation of your foundation being demolished. Though the rebuilding is messy and trying...the finished results are a more solid foundation.

I have prayed for those you love and those who are in the path.

I don't know what it is like to live through such things. We don't get hurricanes, etc here. We do live on a fault line and scientists say that one day we will get THE BIG earthquake, but apparently, it will do most of the Lower Mainland here in so we just need to be prepared to meet our Maker. That was kind of a gloomy comment. Sorry. Back to you and your loved ones. I will keep them in prayer.

I started praying for your parents and Michael the day before yesterday. I've had Katrina on my mind all week. Emily was born the day after Katrina hit. It was like watching a third world country and it was only 5 hours away. Hold them close in my prayers.

Praying and thinking about ya'll. It's often harder (and easier to be anxious) when situations directly involve the people you love instead of it directly affecting you. God knows though and He'll be faithful to care for everyone.

I know how this looks in the natural and I parallel it to what happens in the spiritual. So many folks hear the message of the Lord's return and turn a deaf ear to it thinking it cannot/will not happen but it can and it will. Right now, we all have loved ones in the path of the greatest "hurricane" (His return) and our hearts go out to them. On a natural note, I've heard millions are leaving the area and that is probably a good idea even if the storm passes by.

Sharon,

I have been praying for everyone in the line of Gustav since I heard about this storm a few days ago. I do hope that Lousianna is spared, as these people have already been through so much. I will put your family on my prayer list and ask that God allows them to ride out the storm in safety if it hits that area.

Keep your eyes towards heaven girl. God is at the helm.

Love and blessings,
Mary

We prayed for the people in New Orleans at church today. I haven't listened to or read the news over the past week so I was surprised, although I'd heard about some of the hurricanes that were threatening...we'll continue to pray. D
