Sandi Patty 1983 We Shall Behold Him

Yesterday while talking to one of my friends on the phone I brought her over to ~you tube~ to watch this video. She was not brought up in the same world I was and she missed a lot of this stuff. I'll never forget one day when she called and asked me if I had heard this fantastic song. I wish I could remember the name of it.........but it was a main stay hymn of the churches I grew up in. I have enjoyed introducing her to some of my favorites and seeing that she "gets it". Kind of like the first time you let your child eat ice cream or chocolate. ;)

This song brings back such great memories of a time when Christian singers were still just willing to let their songs bring others into the presence of God.
When Sandi Patty was coming to the forefront of Christian music along with Amy Grant-- I was in high school. While others were listening to bands that I can not even remember the names of---this is what I was listening to.
I got a chance to see Sandi Patty in New Orleans. I remember -vividly- sitting in the audience and for the first time hungering to see the face of the one she was singing about. He was real!
In a new way.
He became so close as my heart was raised in praise. That feeling you get when you feel like your chest has opened up to expose your heart and He reached right on in to touch it.
A lot has changed in the world of Christian music since the early 80's.
I sometimes wonder if we are drifting a little to close to resembling the world. Don't get me wrong-- there is some great music out there that touches my heart....but it is few and far between and sometimes it is just great words and music.
And then every once in a while you come across a singer and a song that ushers you straight into the throne room and your spirit soars.
This song does that for me.
It brings tears to my eyes and a longing to my heart that will never be full filled until I see Him FACE TO FACE.

We shall behold Him~ soon....

The sky shall unfold, preparing His entrance;
The stars shall applaud Him with thunders of praise.
The sweet light in His eyes shall enhance those a waiting,
And we shall behold Him then face to face.

Chorus
And we shall behold Him, we shall behold Him
Face to face in all of His glory;
And we shall behold Him, Yes, we shall behold Him
Face to face, our Saviour and Lord.
The angels shall sound the shout of His coming,
The sleeping shall rise from their slumbering place.
And those who remain shall be changed in a moment,
And we shall behold Him then face to face.

Chorus
And we shall behold Him, we shall behold Him
Face to face in all of His glory;
And we shall behold Him, Yes, we shall behold Him
Face to face, our Saviour and Lord.
We shall behold Him, our Saviour and Lord.

I am like you...... I love the "old" gospel songs from the 80's the best....they will filled with the spirit of God and all they needed to do was sing and souls were ushered into the presence of the Lord......

Oh, I love the old songs. I really needed this, this morning. I am about to go and face the moving sale with my sister and parents. Thank you for your prayers Sharon. My parents need peace this morning because they are still undecided where they are moving and they only have less than 2 weeks. They are Christians and I know that God will guide them but they are very confused right now. Thank you for your prayers.

I enjoy the music of Selah. If you're not heard them, you're in for a treat. I am so excited for you and can't wait to find out where you'll end up.

Wow, this gave me goose bumps today too. The certainty that we shall behold Him is an awsome truth. It is a cause for thanksgiving and excitment; but lets all take a minute to contemplate that meeting. Have we worshiped, forgiven and acted like we should? Like we love Him? Lets start right now if the answer was no to any of those questions. Jesus said "if you love me, you will obey me". Are we asking the Holy Spirit to help us and renewing our mind to the mind of Christ? It is in us, we just need to cooperate with Him to get it out of us. Can you tell I had a horrible night last night with someone and I need to start over again right this moment with a humble and contrite heart? I only ask these questions of all of you because I have asked it of myself and didn't like the answeer. Let's meet him with no unsaid/undone words or deeds. What a glorious day that will be. COME LORD JESUS COME!! By the way, the song was the Old Rugged Cross, and I was pulled over on the side of the road crying.

Oh, how I loved her! I had her ENTIRE live album memorized. I got to meet her at her garage sale. :)

"We Shall Behold Him" was written by Dottie Rambo, who was killed last week in a bus crash. She is beholding Him NOW face to face!!!

Must have grown up in the same era. Still have my Amy Grant albums somewhere! My favorites (those who always usher me into a higher place of worship) are

Chris Tomlin
Watermark
Travis Cottrell (sp?)

Truly, they each are modern day psalmists in their own right.

So you about ready to enter the Olympics for the Boxing Events? I would think so by now. Are you having fun discovering things you don't remember having? Are you getting a thrill from decluttering? These are just a few of the benefits to moving/packing/unpacking and figured you might need to look at a couple by now.
