A while back I signed up to win something over at Mary's site. She is the very sweet hostess of Mary's Writing Nook. She was sponsoring a Pay It Forward that first originated with Donetta.
I won!
So now it is my turn. I thought with all the family time coming up that it might be a good time to post my Pay It Forward.
I guess I should explain to you what it is-----
The idea of Pay It Forward is as follows:
"Come join in the fun and make the world a happier place. So this is how it goes...It’s the Pay It Forward Exchange. It’s based of the concept of the movie “Pay it Forward” where acts or deeds of kindness are done without expecting something in return, just passing it on, with hope that the recipients of the acts of kindness are passed on. So here’s how it works:I won!

The idea of Pay It Forward is as follows:
I will post a picture and you have to tell me what it is.
TRY AND GUESS..it can't hurt.
I posted on something that has something to do with it-- a long time ago.
BTW-I am almost at my one year anniversary.
Thank you very much Beth Moore.
I digress.
So you must try and guess what "it" is.
Should we have more than one person come up with the right answer-
we will have to do a draw.
And should not one person come up with the right answer--we will have to do the random number thingy.
Now what will the prize be?
My favorite coffee, tea, something from Louisiana...........
I am not sure.
Do you trust me? I promise it will be great!
You may guess more than once. Pass the word please. Don't be stingy!
On the last day of December.......... I will announce the winner.
And then it will be your turn to pay it forward.
A random act of kindness.
I will open it up to you all.
If you live in Japan I promise not to send fresh seafood. :)

Sharon,
I'm not sure what this is. I've seen something like it and should know, but can't think of it. If I come up with an answer, I will post later. It looks like some kind of dish used to serve seafood.
Blessings,
Mary
I do not have a clue.
this is TOUGH, I've looked at this for several minutes and cannot figure out what it is!! =) I can't wait to find out!
Okay - I think it must be Victorian (?) but I haven't a clue what it is. I'm thinking, I'm thinking and nothing is coming how can it be that dang hard? Maybe it is something that goes on a womans vanity or it could be some sort of utencil dish - I don't know. I'm obviously not very good at these guessing games. See ya and thanks for coming by and leaving my sister the nice Birthday wish. Kellan

Good job!
You are the closest!
Victorian---good hint!
Can I cheat and read the other comments first. Victorian...hmmm... Is it where the calling cards would be deposited when callers came?
No idea! (I'll stay posted for the answer though...) -- BTW, thanks for your Christmas card -- very nice! D
Congrats on the win! I have no clue what that is so I'll just wait until you post the answer!
It looks like a very old dish of some type.
The only thing I can come up with is a fancy smancy ash tray. LOL
Perhaps its part of a set but some sort of jewellery holder? It's either that or a piece that has broken off of those vanity brush, comb and mirror sets. Guess I'll go and wrack my brain some more as if I didn't have enough to do. How do you spell STRESS? (Oh, I'm only kidding. Just my goofy sense of humor kicking in to overdrive.)

okay, can i guess on same comment form or do i need to submit a new comment for every guess---why am i such a rules person??? lol...
you know this New Orleans girl has seen one like this before so here's my best guesses;
Victorian napkin holder
Cut glass Victorian candy dish
Victorian relish tray, no!
Cut glass cigar tray, no!
what would you put in that tiny holder? the sides keep the things inside but is that tiny indention where something rests or for a thumb to grasp a napkin or what?!!##>>@*^/?/!!????
i'll think about this one and be back...i want TO WIN ANYTHING FROM LOUISIANA...i am so homesick for real food---been a long time! Can't wait until crawfish season---even farm raised tastes great in Texas! Came by to wish you a very Merry Christmas and thank you for all the goodness and beauty you bring to blogland!
here goes more...
Victorian flower tray (for fresh flowers)
Victorian funeral tray
Victorian letter holder
Victorian postal holder
Victorian jewelry tray
Well,,,I just have no idea what in the world.... I have looked at it till I am crossed eyed...... cannot understand how it is turned up on one side and lookes like two carved out ends..... soooooooo I will be so anxious to come back and see the answer .. and then again I may come back and stare at it a while longer.......
Merry Christmas xoxoox
Okay, here we go again. If you turn it on it's side then it looks like it might be a holder of some sort. Perhaps it holds a lipstick? Necklaces or gold chains? It could also be a broken piece of an ornament seeing as we're talking about Christmas. Can you tell I don't really know for sure and I'm 100% guessing?
It is a tray to leave calling cards on. I am nearly positive!
Blessings to you, my friend Sharon! May this Christmas be such a blessing with your family and every moment filled with treasures.
Holly
A button or a cufflink???
is it a Christmas card tray?
is it a tray to hold flowers?
is it a tray for love letters?
is it a dish for stamps?
is it a relish tray?
is it a tray for holding a milk glass for Santa
is it for passing around cause of little indention?
maybe for collecting money---woohoo i like that guess...
IDK
You must be having a few chuckles at our expense over this one. Imagine what we'll feel when you tell us what it is. Do I want to know? I do and I don't. I guess I'll find out if I have any pride in me in the process yes? Are you giving out any hints??????
20 posts and no more guesses? Well, I'm going out on a limb on this one and guess something outrageous. It's a fancy, smancy pin/brooch? Does it get any more outrageous than that?
