Holiday Dinner

We are planning our Christmas day dinner.
Most of it is set but we are still waiting for a few details.
I am making-- prime rib, some type of shrimp and rice dish, a rum cake, apple cider and some tea.

Altogether this is what we are playing around with.
Prime Rib
Ham
Shrimp and rice(pilaf)?????????
Baked macaroni
Twice stuffed mashed potatoes
Spinach and artichoke casserole
Fruit salad
Marinated veggie salad
rolls

Desserts-
Run cake oops! make that rum cake :)
Eggnog custard pie?-maybe
Chocolate pie
Something else not sure what?????

So, my question is------ Does someone have a good recipe for shrimp and rice?
I don't really want anything too heavy because of the potatoes and macaroni.

And I am open to some dessert ideas also.
If you post a recipe on your blog just let me know so that I can come see.
Thank you very much.

ARE YOU GETTING EXCITED YET?
Julia has one more week of school and then vacation time!

However, I am getting excited!!!!
We took the kids at school (talk about interesting but they did soooo good) to the Christmas play, the mall to eat and see the man in the red suit. I've had a Christmas song stuck in my head all weekend. We take the Children Church kids Christmas Caroling on Wed. night....Thank you Jesus it's suppose to be back in the 70's. It's 25 degrees here this morning I HATE cold weather! As my Grandmother says it hurts my bones now =) We have our Christmas party at work tomorrow and the kids get out on Wed!!!!!!!!!!!
Bring on the Christmas BREAK!!!!!

O yes, we are excited! Your dinner plans sound yummy. I wish I could help you out in the recipe hunt. However, that is something I am not the best at. *sigh*

Have a very Merry Christmas!

Sharon,

This all sounds delicious. Maybe I can talk hubby and the boys into making a detour on our way to Florida. Ha!

Love and blessings,
Mary

Somewhere on my blog (I just added labels on the sidebar) is a recipe for Chris' Mom's Christmas Custard with Brandy sauce. It is so very good!

The only shrimp and rice recipes I have are gumbo and a cajun rice one...also under the label of recipes.

Wish you could be in Colorado for Christmas!

Sounds yummy! A choice of desserts, too! How many are you catering for?
Sorry I can't help with recipe ideas, I've found allrecipes.com useful in the past, though.

Sharon, YUM-YUM! What time? We will make sure we aren't late! :)

Listen, I wanted to say how sorry I am that we were not able to pull off our Christmas project that I picked out. We have had a few distracting challenges...but, the project we picked is something we are still going to do when school starts back in January...when we do it I will check back with you, bc I want to still link back to you...you inspired it...

You all have a wonderfully Merry Christmas!

hugs,
Maria

P.S. I had no idea Blogger was acting up! I thought I had done something wrong, 1 of my blogs that I just started moved the pic that is in the header...I am SOOOO glad that someone who knows more about these things (YOU) was kind enough to mention it! I would never have known the diff! Yikes!

Thanks again!

What is Run Cake? Um... I know what "the runs" are in my neck of the woods, and if a cake causes them, I don't want any! LOL
