The Golden Compass--check it out.

The Golden Compass, is a children's movie that will be coming out in December. I was first put on alert to some important issues involving this movie by Sunny Susan. I was planning on taking Julia to see it- as I usually love movies like this. Who did not like the Chronicles of Narnia? But after reading the review at the Snopes.com site--I am not so sure we will be going to see it.
But, don't act on just my word-- go to this link and check it out for yourself. The thing that really bothered me is the author of the book this movie is based on, is an Atheist. Also they say that at the end of the movie the children kill God. Kind of scary thinking about exposing innocent minds to that.
Please go read, and then if you fill it is legit-------pass it on.

***Update*** Seems as if instead of at the end of the movie the children killing God--this happens at the end of the trilogy the guy wrote. They are trying, by this movie, to get kids interested in reading the book series written by this guy. At the end of the series the children kill God and then mankind can live however they wish.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I'm sure there be no indication of that in the trailer either, huh? I'm glad I'm not the author. What a terrible life to live that would be.

If what is written is true, it will be sad and if people who say they are Christians will pay money to see it and say it was "just entertainment". If those who call upon the name of God, would not give their money to these films they might not be a block buster hit.

I just read another post about warning about this movie. We don't take our kids to the theatre yet, so we would've heard about it before renting it or buying it for them...but thanks anyway.

Sheesh. Scary stuff. My heart already aches for the children who WILL be allowed to see it.

Thanks for this information. I did follow your link and if I have my way, my grandsons will not be seeing it. As I am the one that takes them to the movies most often I do have some influence over what they see, but not entirely. However, I will certainly inform my daughter of the author's beliefs.

We've had a bit of discussion going on overe here about this book trilogy and movie. I don't think we'll get anywhere near it based on what we've read and heard now.

Yikes! This will be such a NO GO! I had heard there was a little controversy about it, and knew that by what I knew about the author I wasn't interested. But, this is even worse than what I knew before, just think, to have children kill God? To able able to do what ever they wanted? See what is possible to happen in a generation that does not have biblical knowledge? Besides how godless it is, it leaves out the little detail "in whom we live and move and have our being".

Thanks Sharon for exposing this!! Bless you!

P.S. I tagged you for a list of 7 things you'd like to share about yourself! Check it when you get time!
